Dealership eyes redevelopment
A Napier dealership has announced plans to transform its site into a major retail hub and create a state-of-the-art showroom for its vehicles.
Euro City, which offers the Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen brands at its premises at 120 Prebensen Drive, has announced the plans in a Facebook post.
Terry Elmsly, managing director, says: “Pre-Christmas 2022, I made a decision to place all our commercial property and business on the market, either for sale or for lease.
“The long and short of my actions are in direct connection to a toughening economic outlook, changes to legislation affecting our finance company revenues, supply constraints that have dragged on, a changing social mentality affecting the human resource component of a business and my own ageing.”
He adds it has led to the company being conditionally engaged in contracts to develop the Napier site into a retail hub.
Euro City will feature its automotive and marine offerings in a showroom on the top floor.
The ground floor is fully tenanted with further announcements to follow, but Euro City is seeking interest from potential tenants that may wish to join other retailers on the site.
“We are also on the lookout for a high-end cafe or restaurant to open our rooftop tapas cafe which will be known as the ‘Boardroom’,” adds Elmsly.
