A well-established Northland dealership is closing its doors this week but a new company will be stepping into the showroom the following day.

Mark Cromie has announced he is retiring after more than five decades in the automotive industry and his business, Mark Cromie Motor Group, has been bought by Tristram European.

In a Facebook post this week, Cromie and his wife, Sheryl, confirmed they will be stepping away from the dealership on Port Road, Whangarei, on Friday, March 8.

“After 55 years in the motor vehicle industry, we have decided to take our well-deserved retirement,” they say

“We would like to thank you for your continued support and loyalty to Mark Cromie Motor Group over the years.”

Cromie established his eponymous group in 1999 and it was a leading seller of Holden vehicles but today offers Nissan, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Isuzu and Renault models.

The dealership will be rebranded as Tristram Northland from Saturday, March 9. All existing staff are being retained and the same brands will continue to be sold from the site.

It will become part of Tristram European, which is based in Auckland’s Wairau Valley and its showroom there represents MG, Skoda and Volkswagen.
