Ratings and reviews of dealers will soon to be displayed on Trade Me Motors with Motorcentral confirming it’s set to provide them via its BuyerScore service.

“We’re proud to be displaying BuyerScore reviews”, says Alan Clark, head of Trade Me Motors.

“Our experience, as well as consumer surveys, always shows trust in the seller is a critical factor when buying a car, so we’re looking to strengthen that trust through the addition of BuyerScore ratings and reviews.”

In much the same way private sellers can currently display customer feedback on their Trade Me profile page, BuyerScore will similarly allow dealers to publish their feedback directly on the website.

Easily comprehensible five-star ratings are also to be displayed per dealership for factors such as overall experience, customer service, level of expertise and quality of facilities experienced by customers.

Mark Greenfield, general manager of Motorcentral, says: “We believe BuyerScore ratings on Trade Me will be the biggest win for the auto sales industry this year."

“Every day we’re seeing customers having genuinely good experiences at dealerships and it’s important the New Zealand public hear those stories and understand that buying from a dealer tends to result in a quick, hassle-free and safe transaction.

“Partnerships like this allow us to begin spreading that message en-masse, something we’re thankful to Trade Me for wanting to be a part of.”

Although an official launch date has yet to be set, dealers are being urged to join the BuyerScore service as early as possible so they can begin collecting as much feedback as possible prior to it “going live”. 

“Some of our earliest adopters have close to 1,000 pieces of feedback now, which we expect to be highly influential come launch date,” adds Greenfield. “Likewise, not having a BuyerScore rating ready when this does go live could be quite unfavourable to a dealership, we feel.”
