Dealer numbers dip

The number of dealers on the Motor Vehicle Traders Register (MVTR) decreased by eight last month, bringing the total to 2,595 at the end of November.

It means the tally has fallen in seven of the past eight months and November’s figure is the second lowest of the year, beaten only by September’s 2,591.

Last month’s figure is also 238 below the 2,833 recorded at the end of November 2024.

Dealer numbers have largely been in decline since hitting a high of 3,535 in November 2017.

The MVTR holds essential information about registered traders and their businesses. It is operated by Occupational Regulation, which is part of the market integrity branch of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
