There were 2,796 new commercials registered last month, which was a drop of 24.6 per cent when compared with 3,707 in February 2024. 

Toyota’s Hilux, pictured, was the top model with 601 units, down 13.2 per cent from 692 in the same month a year ago, followed by the Ford Ranger on 526 registrations, a slip of 44.8 per cent over the same time frame from 953 units.

Mitsubishi’s Triton was the third best-selling model in February with 265 sales, a decrease of 39.1 per cent from 435. BYD’s Shark 6 finished fourth with 178 and fifth spot was claimed by the Nissan Navara on 166. 

The Hilux is out front on the year-to-date ladder with 1,214 registrations and a 21.7 per cent share of the market.

Next is the Ranger on 1,079 and 19.3 per cent, and the Triton on 518 units and 9.3 per cent.

The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 5,589 units, which is 32.1 per cent lower than the 8,227 registrations at the same stage of 2024.

On the marques’ ladder, Toyota was top in February with 785 registrations, down from the 896 it achieved a year ago, and a market share of 28.1 per cent.

Ford was next on 634 units, which compares with 1,091 in February 2024, while Mitsubishi was third on 265.

Toyota tops the year-to-date charts with 1,547 registrations and a market share of 27.7 per cent. Ford is second with 1,276 and 22.8 per cent and Mitsubishi is third on 518 and 9.3 per cent.

Hiace top model

As for used-imported commercials, the 365 units registered in February was down 44.1 per cent from 653 in the same month last year.

This brings the year-to-date total to 732, which is 45.5 per cent fewer than the 1,342 sales at this stage a year ago.

Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 145 registrations and a market share of 39.7 per cent, despite its tally falling 38 per cent from 234 registrations in the previous February.

The Nissan NV350 was next on 29, down 69.5 per cent from 95 units over the same period, and Toyota’s Dyna was third even though its registrations slipped from 19 to 16.

The Hiace is the leading model year to date with 292 sales and a 39.9 per cent market share, and the NV350 is second on 54 units and 7.4 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 145 registrations, a 37.9 per cent decrease from 309 a year ago, followed by Nissan with 57 units and Isuzu on 23.

Year to date, Toyota has 371 registrations and a 50.7 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 137 and 18.7 per cent, with Isuzu third on 42 and 5.7 per cent.
