Commercial registrations climb

There were 3,064 new commercials registered last month, which was an increase of 6.1 per cent when compared with 2,889 in October 2023. 

Ford’s Ranger was the top model with 732 units, down 7.6 per cent from 792 in the same month a year ago, followed by the Toyota Hilux on 652 registrations, a slip of 3.7 per cent over the same time frame from 677 units.

Mitsubishi’s Triton, pictured, was the third best-selling model in October after its sales jumped 156.1 per cent year on year from 98 units to 251.

The Ranger is out front on the year-to-date ladder with 9,456 registrations and a 26.9 per cent share of the market.

Next is the Hilux on 6,319 and 18 per cent, and the Triton on 3,794 units and 10.8 per cent.

The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 25,088 units, which is 2.3 per cent higher than the 34,306 registrations at the same stage of 2023.

On the marques’ ladder, Ford was top in October with 820 registrations, just below the 823 it achieved a year ago, and a market share of 26.8 per cent.

Toyota’s 801 registrations last month represented a 7.4 per cent decrease from 865 in October 2023, while Mitsubishi was third on 251.

Ford tops the year-to-date charts with 10,722 registrations and a market share of 30.6 per cent. Toyota is second with 8,301 and 23.7 per cent and Mitsubishi is third on 3,796 and 10.8 per cent.

Hiace top model

As for used-imported commercials, the 444 units registered in October was down 9.2 per cent from 489 in the same month last year.

This brings the year-to-date total to 5,229, which is 0.8 per cent more than the 5,190 sales at this stage a year ago.

Toyota’s Hiace was the leading model last month on 174 registrations and a market share of 39.2 per cent, despite its tally falling 7.9 per cent from 189 registrations in the previous October.

The Nissan NV350 was next on 51, down 26.1 per cent from 69 units over the same period, and Toyota’s Regius was third after its registrations rose from 19 to 26.

The Hiace is the best-seller year to date with 2,013 sales and a 38.5 per cent market share, and the NV350 is second on 692 units and 13.2 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 220 registrations, a 5.2 per cent decrease from 232 a year ago, followed by Nissan with 91 units and Hino on 34.

Year to date, Toyota has 2,645 registrations and a 50.6 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 1,102 and 21.1 per cent, with Hino third on 295 and 5.6 per cent.
