Dozens of rare and classic cars are going under the hammer this month after having been stored in a Far North barn by a collector for years.

The collection includes a Model T Ford that is more than 100 years old alongside vehicles produced by Jaguar, Daimler, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot and Austin.

A bright red Morris Minor is also among more than 120 lots that will feature in two auctions being run on-site and online by Northland Auctions on September 21 and 22.

Parts, machinery and tools will also be available for bidding on after being among the many items contained in a 1,000-square-metre workshop at Pakaraka, Northland, reports the Northern Advocate.

Brad Jackson, auctioneer and owner of Northland Auctions, says the find was a dream come true.

“I’ve been doing auctions for about 22 years and this is by far the best find I’ve ever come across,” he told the Northern Advocate.

‘’When I got the call. the person said their dad had a few cars in his workshop to sell and I got a big surprise when I went to have a look. It was a huge collection, with some outstanding examples of vintage and classic vehicles.”

Jackson explains the elderly collector had a love of automobiles and aeroplanes and had collected the vehicles over the years, along with many spare parts that can no longer be sourced in New Zealand.

The first auction featuring tools and machinery will be held on-site in Pakaraka on September 21 from 10.30am. The second, with vehicles and parts, will run from 10.30am on September 22.
