Orders are now open for GMC’s Yukon Denali with deliveries set to start from the second quarter of 2025.

The Yukon Denali is not only the newest product being launched by General Motors Specialty Vehicles, but is an all-new brand down under.

Classified as an upper-large SUV, the Yukon Denali will arrive in a single, well-equipped trim level and will be powered by GMC’s 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine.

“We expect it to redefine premium family transport, combining eight seats, incredible cargo room, the latest in technology and easy towing,” says Jess Bala, managing director General Motors Australia and New Zealand.

“Like our popular Silverado, the Yukon is built in America but re-engineered to right-hand drive in Australia, delivering factory quality for our markets.”

The SUV starts at $179,990 in New Zealand. Its EcoTec3 V8 is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with electronic precision shift.

It produces a 313kW and 624Nm, but pairs its power with “refinement and efficiency, the latter through direct injection, cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing”.

Under light loads and conditions, the engine’s dynamic fuel-management system can deactivate four cylinders, “markedly” reducing fuel use and increasing range.

The Yukon Denali has an active response 4WD system with electronic limited-slip differential and a two-speed transfer case with 2WD Hi, 4WD Auto, 4WD Hi and 4WD Low.

It delivers class-leading braked towing capacity in excess of 3,500kg and has a maximum cargo volume of 3,480 litres.
