Citroen staying put in NZ

Citroen has announced it will stop bringing in new stock to Australia from November 1, 2024, but the marque is set to continue trading in New Zealand.
Inchcape, the brand’s distributor in Australia, revealed on August 15 that it will become a service-only company for Citroen at the end of this year once its last orders have been fulfilled.
David Owen, Citroen Australia general manager, says: “The decision for Citroen Australia to cease new vehicle sales was not made lightly.
“It was made after careful consideration of the current and future product available for our country, in the context of the local market and the preferences and requirements of Australian new vehicle buyers.”
Citroen’s distributor on this side of the Tasman is Auto Distributors New Zealand, which is part of Armstrong’s Motor Group.
A group spokesperson says Citroen’s operations will continue as usual and the company “remains committed to supporting the brand”, reports Stuff.
Citroen has been part of Australia’s new-vehicle market for more than 100 years but leaves after recording 87 new-car sales in the first half of 2024, down 35 per cent from the same period in 2023, reports Drive.
