Chevy enhances Silverado
The model-year 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers “significant enhancements” inside its restyled cabin environment, advancements in exterior aesthetics and the introduction of the first ZR2.
“It will help people in their quest to live big whether towing their caravan or boat, off-roading or simply getting from A-to-B in a premium full-size truck,” says Greg Rowe, director of GM Specialty Vehicles.
“The first-ever ZR2 will become a go-to vehicle for those who want to adventure off the beaten track, but its refinement means the journey is as enjoyable as the destination.”
The 1500’s exterior has a redesigned front fascia complete with new daytime running lights, but the biggest and most immediate change is an entirely new interior.
“It has been fully redesigned and features a sweeping horizontal instrument panel that makes the cabin feel more spacious and gives it a premium feel,” says Rowe.
This includes a 13.4-inch diagonal colour touchscreen, a new 12.3-inch diagonal configurable digital-instrument cluster, and the introduction of an electronic transmission shift control now located on the centre console.
The LTZ Premium and ZR2 feature the 6.2-litre EcoTech3 V8 engine, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class with 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque. When towing, the 10-speed automatic transmission provides “seamless and smooth” transitions.
Both models boast a comprehensive suite of active and passive advanced safety technology, and driver-assistance systems. Standard features include rear-cross traffic alert, StabiliTrak electronic stability control with traction control, and forward-collision alert with low-speed automatic emergency braking.
In New Zealand, the MY23 Silverado LTZ Premium has a recommended retail price of $144,000. The ZR2 is available from $149,000.
