BMW’s bid to boost EV sales

BMW has added benefits when Kiwis and Australians buy its iX3 or iX xDrive40 to “elevate the ownership experience” of new-generation electric vehicles (EVs).

The headline offering across both markets is the “power pack” offer, which integrates an array of features.

In New Zealand, BMW already offers a complimentary wallbox on purchase of any full EV. When customers buy an iX3 or iX xDrive40 with a new power pack and finance the vehicle via the BMW Full Circle plan, they get NZ$1,500 towards installing the box and a NZ$5,000 trade-in bonus.

Late last year, the company started a partnership with EV charge-point operator Jolt to expand the availability of charging points to drivers in Aotearoa.

For Australian customers, the power pack includes a complimentary third-generation wallbox, six-year complimentary service package and an AU$5,000 trade-in bonus.

These elements are in addition to those offered for all BMW full EVs on offer across the Tasman, including a five-year charging subscription to the country’s largest charging network, a five-year new-car warranty and three years’ roadside assistance.

The initiatives come as BMW continues to expand its EV footprint in both markets – in the breadth of its line-ups and sales volumes.

Earlier this year, the brand introduced the fully electric i7, while the first iX1 has just gone on sale in New Zealand and is due for imminent launch in Australia.

Registrations of electrified BMWs in Australia between January and April were up 50 per cent on last year, with fully electric registrations more than double those in 2022. In New Zealand, electrified model registrations climbed by 110 per cent to the end of April.
