BMW secures luxury marque title
BMW NZ was the leading premium automotive brand during 2013, making it the second year in a row the marque has topped the podium.
Its registrations were up a 16.2 per cent compared with the previous year, and the company says this success was down to the availability of its new model line-up.
Managing director Nina Englert says: “This is great news for everyone at BMW from our employees and dealers, through to people involved with our business and those who buy our products.
“The arrival of a record number of new models helped stimulate fresh interest. Perennial favourites – including the BMW 3 Series, 1 Series and X5 – continued to be our most popular sellers throughout 2013.
“There are now 11 different BMW Series models available, including convertible, coupe, gran coupe, hatch, sedan, touring and gran turismo styles, three sport activity vehicles, one sport activity coupe and the Z4 roadster. There’s a model for every need.”
BMW has also revealed an enhancement to its warranty programme. All new models available for sale in New Zealand will come with a five year/100,000km extended warranty as standard and at no extra cost.
“This reinforces why people should choose to buy NZ-new,” says Englert. “This type of warranty is only available on vehicles purchased from one of our nine dealerships.”
The five-year extended warranty includes three years’ servicing and maintenance and extends roadside assistance to five years.
“New Zealanders’ appetite for new BMWs has never been stronger and 2014 and beyond looks even more promising,” she says.
“By the end of this year, some 25 new models will have been added to the range, which helps put BMW in a great position as we head towards the centennial of the company in 2016. There are some innovative models on the horizon, including our first all-electric car.”
