Bank’s chairman steps down

Heartland Group Holdings Limited has announced Geoff Ricketts is stepping down as chairman with immediate effect.

A market update released to the NZX on February 20 says Ricketts, pictured, has taken the move for an indefinite period due to ill health but will remain as a director of the company.

He was appointed chairman of the board in January 2011 and has held the same position at other companies including the Todd Corporation, Asteron Life and Vero Insurance.

Besides his role with the parent company of Heartland Bank, he is also a director of Mercury Capital, and Oceania and Eastern Group.

Greg Tomlinson, deputy chairman, will assume the role of chairperson, subject to board approval.
