Auditor shortage stalls industry meeting

The Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) has had to postpone its annual general meeting due to a shortage of auditors in the country.

The AGM was due to take place on May 25 but has been put back until 2pm on June 23 after a national shortage of auditors stalled the process for completing its accounts from the past year.

David Vinsen, chief executive, says: “The AGM has been deferred mainly because we have struggled to get auditors to check our accounts.

“Apparently a number of auditors normally come from overseas to do such work for associations, societies and charities, so everybody is struggling to get auditors at the moment but we will be all set to go on June 23.”

Members can either attend the AGM in person at Jacanna Customs and Freight in New Lynn, Auckland, or participate online. VIA says it will send out details of the necessary links to members in the week prior to the event.
