Audi's Q3 thinks big

Audi’s second generation Q3 has arrived in New Zealand boasting more space, comfort and a host of new technological innovations.

The 2019 model of the compact SUV has grown in nearly all its proportions. Its frame is 96.52mm longer and 17.78mm wider than its predecessor and the model now offers up to 530 litres of baggage space or up to 1,525 litres of total storage space when the rear passenger seats are folded down.

In addition to being more spacious, the vehicle’s appearance has been tweaked to create what the brand calls a more contemporary look.

It is now available in New Zealand in three variants: the 35 TFSI Advanced 110kW engine with 18-inch alloys as standard, the 45 TFSI quattro Advanced 169kW engine also sporting 18-inch alloys, and a 45 TFSI quattro S Line 169kW that features 19-inch alloys.

The 45 TFSI model offers 350Nm of torque and goes from 0-100kph in 6.3 seconds, with a seven-speed S tronic used to transmit the power.

On the technological front, the Q3 comes with parking aid front and rear, a lane-departure warning system and the new MMI touch system with full navigation is standard on the S Line model.

Dean Sheed, Audi New Zealand’s general manager, expects the Q3 to be a hit with Kiwi drivers.

“The Audi Q3 is all grown up with greater practical utility than ever before and is the ideal companion for New Zealanders,” he says. “Aside from best-in-class spaciousness and a distinctly sporty design, the next generation Audi Q3 offers a wide range of talents. This redefined SUV combines premium performance, with the latest in Audi intelligence and technology to elevate the everyday vehicle.”

The Q3 is available now from $60,900.
