Aston Martin unveils racing simulator

Aston Martin has unveiled a limited edition, luxury home simulator that will set buyers back a cool £57,500 (NZ$110,400) plus tax.

The AMR-C01 Racing Simulator is the first product under a partnership between Aston Martin and British technology company, Curv Racing Simulators

It will be limited to just 150 models and promises an immersive driving experience for home users.

The hand-assembled AMR-C01 has a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, uses Assetto Corsa software and the seating position mirrors that of the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

Marek Reichman, chief creative officer at Aston Martin, says designers faced challenges because although the simulator isn’t a car, it is inspired by the marque’s racing cars.

“It needed to exude the same elegance, boasting the same dynamic lines and balance of proportions as any Aston Martin with a racing lineage,” he explains. “I can picture the AMR-C01 in the most beautiful of residences as a sculptural work of art in its own right.”

Darren Turner, an Aston Martin works driver and boss of Curv Racing Simulators, says owners of the AMR-C01 will be able to experience virtual racing from the comfort of their own home.

“Our goal was to create a simulator that provided as much enjoyment in virtual reality as real racing does,” he adds. “Racing cars is a lot of fun and it is great to see that with the growth of Esports racing, more people are now getting involved.”

Orders are being taken for the AMR-C01, with the first deliveries due to take place in the fourth quarter of 2020. For more details, visit www.curvrs.com
