Arresting post pushes cop-car sale

A police department in the United States that has been selling off some of its old fleet created a hilarious description of a redundant patrol vehicle in an attempt to entice people to bid on it at auction.
West Seneca Police Department, in New York state, had five former vehicles going under the hammer and provided details for one that it says was formerly known as Car #26.
A post on the department’s Facebook page describes the Dodge Charger Pursuit as an instant classic that is hard to buy nowadays because “Stellantis thought this was such a special machine they just decided to stop making them altogether”.
“Let’s cut right to the chase, of which this car has been in many,” the post continues.
“This car was born in 2022 and has seen some things. Is it perfect? No. But does it make up for that with low miles and a creak and rattle free ride? Also no, as it likely needs new CV boots on the front axle and makes a weird clunking sound when you turn.
“If you put your ear to the backseat, some say you can actually hear bad decisions being made.”
After describing some of the car’s features, such as all-wheel drive and its 3.6-litre V6 engine, it adds: “We’d say this car takes no prisoners but that’s literally what it did.”
The witty post says all its cars “averaged somewhere between five and 34 miles per gallon during their time with us” and the air-conditioning “still blows ice cold”.
Other interesting facts about the car, which attracted 290 bids and eventually sold for US$8,900 (about NZ$15,600), included there is no centre console, there is a hole in the boot lid, and it comes with a mystery ball of stuff wrapped in real-life crime scene tape.
