All-new Prius hits market

Toyota has begun sales of its all-new Prius series-parallel hybrid (HEV) models in Japan and is set to launch plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions from March.
The new Prius boasts the marque’s latest fifth-generation hybrid system in both the two-litre and 1.8-litre models.
Compared to the previous model – the Prius A Touring Selection – the two-litre Z and G grades deliver improved fuel efficiency of 28.6km/L and a maximum output of 144kW.
The 1.8-litre Prius models, U and X grades, offer fuel efficiency of 32.6km/L.
A second-generation Toyota New Global Architecture platform underscores the vehicle and allows for a lower centre of gravity and large-diameter tyres than on previous versions.
Eight body colours are available on the latest Prius including two newly developed options, ash and mustard.
Toyota Safety Sense, the company’s latest active safety package, is a standard inclusion and added features include rear vehicle proximity notification and approaching vehicle proximity support.
