Agency tweaks rules over imports

Importers and dealers have been advised of government changes to the process for handling Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) technical letters now these are no longer being digitally signed.

An email alert from the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) to its members highlights a new approach that has been introduced by the NZTA.

“NZTA have ruled that emailed technical letters that do not contain a digital signature must be emailed directly to the key service delivery provider from the Singapore LTA,” the alert explains.

“Emailed technical letters that do contain an electronic signature can be accepted from the vehicle owner/importer. See NZTA Reference Material 82.

“VIA encourages you to ensure you have all the correct paperwork through to the compliance shop to avoid delays.”

The message continues that importers also need to ensure the emissions shown on the technical letter equate to Euro 5 or Euro 6, as shown in an extract from the Vehicle inspection requirements manual (VIRM) below.

Any members with questions can contact VIA on 0800-842-842 or email info@via.org.nz.
