Agency issues key CCD reminders
The customer team at Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is receiving an increasing number of questions about the clean car discount (CCD) as the day when fees and rebates change fast approaches.
From July 1, new settings for the feebate scheme will be implemented that will result in more vehicles attracting fees and higher rebates for used zero-emissions vehicles.
Discounts will only apply for vehicles emitting less than 100g of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometre instead of the current 146g.
At the same time, the rebate for zero-emissions used imports will increase slightly but the maximum discount for new vehicles is being reduced.
Malcolm Yorston, technical manager of the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association, says Waka Kotahi has put together some reminders about the scheme to answer the main questions it has received.
These are:
• Rebate amounts are based on the date a vehicle is first registered in New Zealand, not the date an application is submitted. Current rebate amounts apply to vehicles registered before July 1. New rebate amounts will apply to vehicles registered on or after July 1.
• The CCD is not ending, it’s just being adjusted. New fees and rebates will take effect on July 1. To view pricing before and after this date, visit the Rightcar website.
• The agency is currently receiving high volumes of rebate applications, which can take up to 20 working days to process. Waka Kotahi will email applicants when their application is being processed.
