Agency driving services into app

A new NZ Transport Agency App allowing consumers to access their licence and vehicle details, as well as make payments, is being hailed as a secure, online, one-stop shop.
Simeon Brown, Minister of Transport, and Judith Collins, Minister for Digitising Government Minister, announced the rollout of the app and say it will pave the way for the government to deliver a digital driver licence.
“The NZTA App will enable an easier way for Kiwis to pay for vehicle registration and road user charges [RUC],” adds Brown.
“It will also display expiry dates for cars’ warrants of fitness [WOFs], vehicle registrations and RUC end distance.
“Future app updates will also allow users to easily pay tolls and view their vehicles’ safety ratings.”
He continues that digital solutions can cut unnecessary bureaucracy, provide services in a convenient and timely way, and make government more accessible.
Collins says the government and NZTA are encouraging drivers to help develop its digital services by testing the new app, which is currently in beta mode.
“Your engagement and feedback will help greatly improve functionality of the services and information available before a version is released to app stores in coming months,” she explains.
The current beta version of the app shows driver licence details such as licence status and conditions, and demerit point balance, but it does not feature photos or dates of birth.
As for vehicle details, the platform displays the year, make and model, registration expiry date, WOF expiry date and RUC end distance for up to five vehicles.
