AA gets moving with Mevo
On-demand car-sharing company Mevo and the AA have teamed up to promote sustainable mobility to the latter’s members.
The partnership, which sees members of the association receive up to $100 free Mevo credit in their first year, provides new ways to get around Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton.
“We know our members use a variety of transport options,” says Jonathan Sergel, the AA’s chief mobility officer. “While most have their own car, they also use public transport, walk, ride and use micro-mobility too.
“Car-sharing is rapidly growing in popularity with hundreds of thousands of trips taken in the past 12 months alone, and Mevo is leading the way on innovating how Kiwis access on-demand services.”
Mevo’s chief executive, Erik Zydervelt, says the partnership with AA is a great way to promote efficient travel to a wider audience as car-sharing becomes a mainstream way for Kiwis getting around.
Using the Mevo app, members can locate a car near to them – usually within a few minutes’ walk in a Mevo inner suburbs zone – and reserve it from their phone.
“Mevo takes care of all parts of the journey including fuel or energy, insurance, parking in the pick-up and drop-off zone, and vehicle maintenance,” adds Zydervelt.
“There’s no time wasted picking up or dropping off keys. All cars have keyless entry via the Mevo app, so members can just get on with their journey.
“Car-sharing is a sustainable travel option. For every car-share vehicle on our network, an average of 11 private vehicles are taken off the road not to mention offsetting the full life-cycle carbon footprint of our network by 120 per cent.”
