Optimus completes takeover deal
Optimus Group has completed its takeover of Autocare Services, an automotive logistics company in Australia, and acquired 100 per cent of the Melbourne-based firm’s shares.
The global automotive business, which in New Zealand owns companies such as JEVIC NZ, Nichibo and Vehicle Inspection NZ, says the deal is a key part of plans to expand its presence in the Australian market.
It acquired shares in Autopact Pty Ltd, a major car dealer, in November 2023 and entered into a joint venture agreement with an Australian entity to establish AutoSolix Pty Ltd as an import vehicle compliance and registration company in April 2024.
Optimus, which has its headquarters in Japan, also established VITA Australia Pty last month to handle inspections of imported vehicles.
Autocare, founded more than 60 years ago and previously owned by LINX Cargo Care Group, has strategic operations in all major port regions of Australia and provides transportation and storage services for imported vehicles.
Optimus says completing the acquisition on May 1 and making Autocare a consolidated subsidiary company will allow the group to “build a strong value chain suitable for the Australian market”.
