NSW police add hybrid to fleet

Police in New South Wales have added a hybrid BMW i8 to their vehicle fleet. The hybrid sports-car consumes just 2.1 litres per 100km and will not be used to catch criminals. Instead, it will be showing up at promotional events and used as a way to start conversations with members of the public. "This BMW is the latest in a number of different vehicles that we have utilised at Rose Bay Local Area Command to raise awareness and engage with the community," said Rose Bay police commander, Bradley Hodder. Hodder said that the vehicle was not paid for by tax payers and was a commercial arrangement between the Rose Bay Chamber of Commerce and the BMW Sydney dealership. Previously, New South Wales has also used a McLaren 650S, Volvo S60 Polestar, Jaguar XF, Audi RS4 and S7 Sportback, Porsche 911 and Panamera, Lexus RC F and an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante
