Increase in biofuel sales

Gull has now sold more than 24 million litres of biofuels in New Zealand, with the company saying this has delivered an equivalent emissions reduction of 57,000 tonnes of carbon. “We’ve come a long way since that first retail sale of biofuel on the August 1, 2007, and we’ve saved a lot of carbon,” says Dave Bodger, general manager of Gull NZ. “Twenty-four million litres of biofuels have been sold at our pumps to carbon-conscious Kiwis, which is enough fuel to drive to the moon and back 250 times. “We’re delighted to see that our efforts to protect our environment have been embraced by New Zealanders, but we’re mindful this is just the beginning.” The figures quotes by Gull are based on the emissions trading scheme and average fuel consumption of 11.2l/100km. Gull’s current biofuels include Gull Force 10. This 98 Octane Premium petrol contains 10 per cent ethanol and is the fuel chosen by the BNT V8 Supertourers to race on. Gull Force Pro is an extreme Octane (110 plus) fuel containing 85 per cent ethanol. It’s used by flex-fuel vehicles and motorsport enthusiasts, and is available at three service stations and in drums from distributors. Gull Diesel Max isan ultra-low sulphur diesel blend containing up to five per cent biodiesel. It’s available at five service stations and delivered on request to Gull’s commercial customers, including Birkenhead Transport.
