Holden announces Sportwagon

Posted on 06 February, 2017

Holden have announced some details of the upcoming Commodore Sportwagon model, the first to be produced by German manufacturers Opel. The Sportwagon will have four-cylinder petrol and diesel and the flagship V6 model options. The V6 will have 230kW of power and 370Nm of torque, a world-first ‘Twinster’ all-wheel drive system and 9-speed transmission. The Sportwagon will contain various driver assistance features, such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive suspension, rear-cross traffic alert, lane-keep assist and lane departure warning, head-up display, adaptive cruise control and matrix lighting. Holden has also introduced new unlocking technology. As well as keyless entry, the tailgate can be opened and closed with a kicking motion under the rear bumper. The system will detect an obstruction and stop the mechanism in an emergency. Depending on the power train, it will be up to 200 kilograms lighter than the previous model. The Holden Sportwagon will premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7 under the Opel guise and will go on sale in New Zealand in 2018.
