Green honour for diesel SUV

The Green Car Journal has named the Jeep Grand Cherokee Turbo Diesel its green SUV of the year for 2015 at the Washington Auto Show. The finalists included SUVs and crossovers with notable environmental achievement that also provide the attributes expected of this class of vehicle. Mike Manley, president of Jeep Brand, says: “We take pride the jurors recognised the blend of efficiency, capability, comfort and performance the Turbo Diesel offers. The Grand Cherokee is the most-awarded SUV in history.” Producing 184kW and a 570NM of torque, the Grand Cherokee’s 24-valve dual-overhead cam three-litre turbo-diesel V6 delivers clean fuel technology with low CO2 emissions. It boasts open-road consumption figures of 6.5l/100km, a driving range of more than 1,100km and a towing capability of 3,500kg. In New Zealand, the Turbo Diesel is available with three trim and equipment levels with the Laredo commanding a recommended retail price of $73,990, while the price-tags for the Limited and Overland are $85,990 and $98,990 respectively. All exclude dealer costs and delivery.
