Google reveals self-driving car

Posted on 28 May, 2014

Google unveiled the latest version of its self-driving car, which can navigate by itself and does not have a steering wheel, breaks or accelerator pedal. “The vehicles will be very basic – we want to learn from them and adapt them as quickly as possible – but they will take you where you want to go at the push of a button,” says Google in a statement on its blog. The car would eliminate the need for drivers to look for a park and do it on its own as they walk off. It comes fitted with two seats, a space for passengers’ belongings, buttons to start and stop, and a screen that shows the route. According to tech blog Recode, Google hopes to start testing the car during the winter months. “If all goes well, we’d like to run a small pilot program here in California in the next couple of years,” Google says.
