David Vinsen joins the ITS board

Posted on 15 June, 2017

Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (IMVIA) chief executive, David Vinsen has been elected to the board of Intelligent Transportation Systems NZ (ITS). The board, which is made up of a variety of industry insiders, has recently increased its size to include people who are deeply involved in ITS. The board will include a range of people from telecommunications experts through to those working in large businesses and government organisations. "At the IMVIA, we see it as a neutral meeting ground for all of the people who have interest in ITS to meet and talk about the future. We think it's essential to be involved," Vinsen says. Although the IMVIA has been a part of ITS NZ for the past two years, after an election which took place on Tuesday, Vinsen is the first representative from the IMVIA to join the board. "We have considerable expertise in governance which complements the other parties involved, which include commercially-orientated organisations as well as businesses who have an interest in technology infrastructures. The IMVIA represents the transport side of ITS," Vinsen says. Now that he is part of the board, Vinsen says he looks forward to discussing the future of ITS and how it will work both globally and within New Zealand. "The industrial age is in the past and we are nearly through the information age. We are now entering the digital age which has the propensity to seriously change a lot of things, including how transport operates." Vinsen says that the board will look to the future and discuss a new revolution that doesn't just deal with transport but surrounds 'mobility'. "It's not about getting vehicles from place to place anymore. It's about mobility as a service."
