Daimler issues airbag recalls

Posted on 10 February, 2016

Daimler has joined the widening Takata recalls in the US, recalling 840,000 vehicles for faulty airbag inflators. The recall affects about 705,000 Mercedes-Benz cars and 136,000 Daimler vans, although the marque did not specify which models were affected. The recalls could cost Daimler NZ$578 million, although the marque says it will account for the cost in its 2015 financial report. It’s full-year profit will decrease to $14.7 billion, with income before interest and tax now $22.4 billion. The latest Takata recall saw a number of marques widen call backs with Honda recalling 2.23 million vehicles in the US.
