Honda has joined Toyota in calling back thousands of cars sold new in this country for more problems with airbags supplied by Japanese company Takata. Toyota NZ is recalling 26,050 units for possible problems with their driver and front-seat passenger airbags because of potential abnormal deployment. Honda NZ is calling back about extra 16,000 vehicles also affected by faulty Takata systems. Autofile lists the models affected in the May 21 issue of the magazine. MTF is taking its fight against the Commerce Commission and decisions made by the judiciary in the Sportzone case to the highest level. The company has filed a notice of application for leave to appeal to the supreme court.The case has wider implications because its principles will be incorporated in the responsible lending code, which comes into force on June 6. In other franchise news, seven dealers from New Zealand have become 2015 General Motors International Grandmasters in the US. The Commerce Commission can now apply for court declarations when it believes unfair terms have been banned in standard-form consumer contracts.
