Alfa Romeo arrives in NZ

Posted on 26 April, 2016

Alfa Romeo’s 4C Spider has arrived in New Zealand, but Kiwis hoping for a chance to own the supercar are out of luck - the five models allocated to New Zealand have already been sold. David Smitherman, chief executive of Fiat Chrysler New Zealand, says: “To say we would like to have access to more Alfa Romeo 4C Spiders is a substantial understatement. But the demand for this car around the world has been and remains insatiable.” The two-seater, rear-wheel-drive model boasts a 1750cc aluminium turbocharged direct injection engine, producing 177kW of power and 350Nm of torque. With a top speed of 257kph, it reaches 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds. The Spider is built around an ultra-lightweight, carbon fibre monocoque and features an aluminium rollover structure and specially-developed carbon fibre windscreen frame. Covered xenon headlights come as standard. Outside, the car features a choice of 17/18-inch or 18/19-inch wheels in silver or dark finishes. The Spider also comes with the new pastel Giallo Prototipo paint. The supercar’s aerodynamics ensure that there is minimal wind and noise intrusion when the cloth roof is removed and there is a carbon fibre hardtop available as an optional extra. Inside, the Spider features leather seats with accent stitching and an Alfa Hi Fi sound system as standard. The recommended retail price starts at $129,990, excluding dealer and delivery costs.
