There was a notable decrease in used commercials last month with 964 units recorded – down by 10.9 per cent on July 2018’s total when 1,082 units were registered in New Zealand.

Year to date, it appears the used-commercial sector is on a similar trajectory with 6,556 registrations – a 5.8 per cent decline when compared with 2018’s 6,962.

Toyota remained on top with 460 sales for a market share of 47.7 per cent. Its Hiace claimed the biggest market share of all models with 36.5 per cent thanks to 352 registrations.

Nissan came second on the marques ladder with 224 units for a market share of 23.2 per cent, while Isuzu finished third with 49 units and 5.1 per cent.

The Nissan NV350 was runner-up in the models’ chart with 62 sales for a 6.4 per cent share, while its Caravan came third with 58 registrations and 6.0 per cent.

It was a mixed bag of results in the regions last month compared with July 2018. Thames had a good month – up 180 per cent from five registrations in July 2018 to 14 last month. Palmerston also performed well with sales climbing by 68.4 per cent from 19 to 32 units.  

However, Masterton recorded a drop of 72.7 per cent – from 11 registrations in the same month of last year to three last month. It was a similar story for Rotorua and Blenheim, which showed decreases of 66.7 and 50.0 per cent respectively.
