So far this year, the used imported passenger market has fallen by 6.5 per cent compared to the first eight months of 2017.

Registrations of used imported passenger vehicles have taken a drop when compared to August last year, with sales decreasing by seven per cent, or 1,115 units, bringing this month’s total to 13,368.

The year-to-date total is 101,787 sales – a decrease of 6.5 per cent on 108,865 units over the first eight months of last year.

Masterton recorded the biggest percentage increase in registrations of used imported cars in August with a 48.1 per cent jump from 81 units in August 2017 to 120 last month. 

However, most regions around New Zealand saw losses in used-imported passenger vehicle registrations last month.

Out of the main centres, Auckland fell from 6,856 registrations in August last year to 6,015, a decrease of 12.3 per cent. Christchurch and Dunedin also didn’t compare well to a year earlier – they showed decreases of 10.1 per cent and 5.8 per cent respectively.
