Registrations of used imported passenger vehicles came in at 12,651 last month. This was a drop of 5.2 per cent when compared to 13,339 transactions in June 2017. 

Last month’s total brought the year-to-date total to 74,572 registrations, which represented a decrease of 6.7 per cent on the 79,952 units sold over the first six months of last year.

Wanganui recorded the biggest increased percentage in registrations of used imported cars last month. It had a 33 per cent jump to 129 transactions compared to 97 in June 2018. Thames came second with an increase from 86 units to 104, or 20.9 per cent.

Auckland, the country’s biggest region for sales, saw a 7.4 per cent decrease over the same timescales from 6,379 to 5,905 registrations.

In terms of brands, Toyota were once again the leader with 2,881 units registered. It was followed by Nissan on 2,486 and Mazda with sales of 2,018. The top three marques had a market share for the month of 22.8, 19.7 and 16 per cent respectively.
