Subaru boosts SUV production

Posted on 04 December, 2017

Subaru announced on Friday that they plan to increase SUV production at their Indiana factory. Subaru will be investing NZ$200 million into the venture, which will also provide an additional 200 jobs. The SUV will be the three-row Ascent that’s expected to go on sale next summer. Subaru now has about 5,600 workers at the Lafayette factory, where it now builds the Impreza and Legacy cars and Outback SUV. The company says the new investment will boost the factory's production to about 400,000 vehicles in 2018. At 17-feet in length, and accommodating up to eight passengers, the upcoming Ascent is the biggest production vehicle Subaru has ever built.
