Dealers and vehicle owners are urged to check for non-compliant retrofitted three-point seatbelts imported and distributed by BVL (Business Ventures Limited) and manufactured by Changzhou BWD, China.

Safety alert issued

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has issued an update to the seatbelt and seatbelt anchorages sections of the in-service and entry VIRMs.

Vehicles with three-point seatbelts imported and distributed by BVL (Business Ventures Limited) and manufactured by Changzhou BWD, China, should be failed for WoF and CoF, and entry certification should not be completed.
 
The change is effective immediately and is live in the VIRMs now.

NZTA has also issued a safety alert advising vehicle owners who have retrofitted seatbelts to check the seatbelt labels following these safety concerns.
