Motor racing rescheduled

Two events due to take place at Hampton Downs in November have been postponed due to current Covid-19 alert-level restrictions and the lack of certainty around planning.

Following talks with the categories involved and MotorSport NZ, a collective decision has been made to move them to April next year.

As a result, the opening round of the summer series is now scheduled to start at Pukekohe from December 4-5 with the grand final at Hampton Downs from April 22-24.

The NZ Endurance Championship final will now be staged over the weekend of April 8-9.

“With an uncertain roadmap, we weren’t confident that we could stay on-track to deliver these events,” says Geoff Short, of promoter Speed Works.

“The decision to move the November events to April was logical given the current situation.

“The South Island endurance series’ dates have also been affected, so the move will give these events a better chance of running successfully.”
