Mazda2 updated for 2017

Posted on 03 May, 2017

The Mazda2 has had another upgrade and according to Managing Director of Mazda New Zealand, David Hodge, the 2017 version is easily "the most impressive small car on the market."   The 2017 model will include larger wrap-around side-turn lamps on exterior mirrors along with a powerfold function (manual on the GLX and automatic on GSX and Limited models). “Externally it looks great from every angle and it’s obvious the Mazda designers put a lot of effort in ensuring this vehicle would stand out from other vehicles on the road. The features and specifications of the 2017 Mazda2 are simply outstanding. When you get behind the wheel you really appreciate what a great vehicle it is," says Hodge.  Inside, the new generation 6.5 steering wheel has better grip and additional rear air-conducting ducts have been added below the front seats, as well as passenger assist grips for easier entry and exit from the vehicle.  The GLX and GSX models feature black cloth trim while the Limited boasts a black leather trim. Mazda's G-Vectoring Control (GVC)  is included across all models of the 2017 Mazda2 range. The GVC system provides the driver with greater confidence by delivering improved handling and stability across a range of driving conditions - from low-speed everyday driving and high speed straight line driving, to winding roads and emergency avoidance manoeuvres.  The Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system has been re-tuned to provide immediate feedback the moment the steering wheel is turned resulting in precise control. Adjustments to front and rear stabiliser bushings deliver improved driving stability and body roll. “These days with many larger vehicles on the road drivers want to know their small car has the latest safety technologies to assist them in avoiding hazards, collisions and to reduce the severity of unavoidable accidents. Mazda designers and engineers have included many of the evolved i-ACTIVSENSE technologies seen in the new Mazda3 and Mazda6 in the 2017 Mazda2 that will deliver drivers and passengers’ peace of mind," says Hodge.  The vehicle also comes in three  new colours including Eternal Blue Mica, Meteor Grey Mica and Jet Black Mica - which will replace Metropolitan Grey and Black Mica. The new Mazda2 will be available  from $21,945 plus on road costs.
