Kiwi trio finish in top six

Scott Dixon led home a procession of Kiwi drivers in the latest race of the IndyCar Series as he finished fourth ahead of compatriots Marcus Armstrong and Scott McLaughlin, who came home fifth and sixth respectively.

The result in the Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Sunday (NZ time) leaves Dixon, pictured, third in the drivers’ standings. He is now 25 points behind his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Alex Palou, who won at the weekend and leads the series overall.

Less than a second split the three New Zealanders after 85 laps and all of them briefly led the race at some stage.

McLaughlin is now sixth in the race for the drivers’ title and Armstrong, who is in his second IndyCar season, is 11th.

The series returns with the Indianapolis 500  on May 27 (NZ time).
