Kia stops production as Covid-19 hits staff
Positive tests among marque’s employees in Korea brings manufacturing of vehicles to an abrupt halt.

Kia Motors has suspended production at all its factories near Seoul after eight of its workers tested positive for Covid-19, according to a union official.
The sites affected produce Kia’s Carnival SUV and its Rio small car, among mother models, and manufacturing came to a halt late on September 16.
South Korea has started to ease tough social distancing rules in the greater Seoul area and on September 14 reported its lowest daily virus tally – 109 – in about a month. The country’s total number of coronavirus cases has passed 22,200 with more than 360 deaths.
Kia has been contacted for comment, reports Reuters.
