An extra search function has been added to JEVIC’s website to provide accurate information on the recall status of alpha-type Takata airbags in vehicles inspected by the company pre-shipment and then transported to New Zealand.

Euan Philpot, chief executive officer of JEVIC NZ, says: “Following the introduction of the Takata alpha-airbag compulsory recall status requirement, JEVIC has responded to the needs of its clients and the wider industry by providing the recall status of vehicles pre-shipment inspected by JEVIC.

“While the introduction of the new border-inspection requirements has been seamless, uncertainty has remained in the industry as to the accuracy and timeliness of information available on the alpha-airbag recall status.

“Purchasers of vehicles and the industry have been seeking greater assurances and certainty of information in relation to this recall status. The introduction of this new search function provides that assurance.”

The database in the search function includes all data of vehicles pre-shipment inspected by JEVIC and then shipped to this country since December 1, 2017.  The service is available to customers free of charge online here.
