Final call for T-Tech submissions

The deadline has been extended for experts around the country to submit summaries of paper and presentation ideas for T-Tech 2020 – but, be warned, time is fast running out.

Organised by ITS NZ, this year’s conference is being held from May 4-5 at Te Papa Tongarewa, the National Museum of New Zealand, in Wellington.

Those making submissions have until January 31 to get them in – and win up to $5,000 worth of travel and expenses to attend an international transport conference of their choice, such as the ITS Asia-Pacific Forum in Brisbane or ITS World Congress in Los Angeles.

There are two chances to win – best paper and best presentation – with entries being judged by an expert panel and those attending T-Tech 2020.

Simon McManus, pictured, executive officer of ITS NZ, says: “T-Tech is the leading forum to discuss challenges, innovations and solutions that help make transport safer, greener and more efficient.

“For those working towards these goals, T-Tech is the most important event to progress the conversation. It helps decision-makers identify and investigate the best of emerging solutions being developed and discussed globally in a New Zealand context.”

There will be six themes at T-Tech 2020. These include safety – developing, trialling and integrating technologies to deliver Vision Zero – and resilience, which is about safeguarding and future-proofing systems and infrastructure. The other four themes are:

*Community shaping and place making – solutions to improve liveability, access and environments.

*Digitalisation – planning for and adopting 5G, automation, smart cities solutions.

*Freight and business – developing and adopting efficiency innovations to benefit New Zealand Inc.

*Sustainability – energy as a technology enabler, emission reductions, modal shift and behaviour change.
