ComCom delay decision on merger

Posted on 30 October, 2017

The Commerce Commission have delayed a decision on whether Trade Me have been cleared to acquire Limelight Software Ltd, trading as Motorcentral. Earlier this year Trade Me announced plans to acquire 100 per cent of Motorcental, pending Commerce Commission approval, an announcement which was due at the end of last week. In a statement to Autofile, a spokesperson from the Commerce Commission said “ we are continuing to investigate the issues set out in the Letter of Issues published in relation to this merger clearance application.” The Commerce commission web site has been updated and the decision is now due 21 December this year. In our July issue we talked to the head of Trade Me Motors, Alan Clark, and director of Motorcentral, Mena Eskander, about what the two companies have to offer one another and what the acquisition means going forward.
