Best month for commercials

Registrations of used-imported commercial vehicles came to 1,224 units last month – an increase of 6.6 per cent on August 2017’s total for the strongest month recorded this year. 

Year to date, the market is down by 4.8 per cent, or 413 units, compared to the first eight months of 2017.

Most regions recorded gains during August compared with the same month last year. Timaru led the way with the biggest percentage increase of 90.9 per cent, from 11 in August 2017 to 21 last month.

Out of the main centres, Wellington and Christchurch recorded increases in sales compared with a year earlier, with increases of 12.1 per cent and 18.7 per cent respectively. 

However, Auckland, the country’s biggest region for sales, saw a 6.3 per cent decrease over the same timescale from 570 to 534 registrations.
