Aqua takes out first place

Posted on 29 August, 2014

There was little change in Japan’s top three new car models in June, with the number-one spot being retaken by Toyota Aqua’s on 19,812 deliveries. May’s top model, the Honda Fit, dropped to second with 16,066 with Toyota’s Prius retained third place on 13,557. The all-new Honda Vezel stormed into fourth on 11,680 units, up from sixth place. Displaced to fifth and sixth, Toyota’s Voxy on 11,134 and Corolla on 9,982 represented gains. They were closely by the Vitz on 9,936. The only non-Toyota/Honda model in the top 10 was Nissan’s Note, now a regular in the eighth. It was followed by Toyota’s Noah in ninth, while Honda’s Freed moved up to its record high of 10th. If sales Voxy and Noah twin models were combined, they would have come second on 16,996 units. Another model with consistent sales month-on-month was the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire with 4,172 in 14th, while Mazda’s Axela – after a strong start in early 2014 – seems to have settled with 3,709 deliveries in June.
