Insurance deal views sought

The Commerce Commission has published a statement of preliminary issues relating to an application from IAG (NZ) Holdings to acquire 100 per cent of the shares in Lumley General Insurance (NZ). The statement outlines the key competition issues the commission considers will be important in deciding whether or not to grant clearance. The preliminary issues and public version of the application are online at www.comcom.govt.nz/clearances-register/ Submissions are invited from parties who consider they have information relevant to the consideration of this matter. They can be emailed to registrar@comcom.govt.nz with IAG/Lumley in the subject line or posted to PO Box 2351, Wellington 6140, by 4pm on February 21. IAG supplies personal and commercial insurance products nationally with most of its products sold under the AMI, State and NZI brands.
