Used import sales steady

First-time registrations of used cars imported into New Zealand came in at 11,675 during January – a decrease of one per cent compared to 11,791 in the same month of 2015. Toyota was the best-selling marque on 2,794 units to claim a market share of 23.9 per cent. It was followed by Nissan with 2,075 and 17.8 per cent, and Mazda on 1,859 and 15.9 per cent. Suzuki’s Swift topped January’s models ladder with 567 first-time registrations. Nissan’s Tiida was second on 550 and Mazda’s Axela third with 546. The market for used commercial vehicles recorded an increase of 7.9 per cent last month from 644 units in January 2015 to 695. Toyota topped the ladder with 338 with Nissan second on 158. Mazda came third with 35. The Hiace was the top model on 255 units, the Caravan was second with 70 and the Vanette came third on 31.
