UK dealerships sell up

Posted on 19 November, 2013

A quarter of small and medium-sized dealerships in the UK will be forced to sell up in 2014, according to consulting firm Bluefin Solutions. It says they will be unable to generate the revenue needed to sustain investment in people, systems and facilities. The predictions are based on the firm’s conversations with automotive manufacturers and dealerships, while its report says marques will focus more on training and development. Brands and franchises will also place an emphasis on improving customer acquisition and retention rates, which hover between 20 per cent and 40 per cent in the UK. Bluefin adds dealers will invest more in social media and the internet to grow interaction with customers.
