Hybrid for minister

Simon Bridges is set to have a plugin electric hybrid as his personal vehicle. The Transport Minister will get his Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SUV next month. The Outlander is priced from $60,000 and this latest news follows the National Government’s blueprint for EVs, announced in May. Earlier this week more details were revealed surrounding a contestable fund for the EV sector, worth up to $4 million dollars in 2016/17 and up to $6m in subsequent years. The intention is for the first funding round to being in August 2016, with initial funds being awarded between December 2016 and February 2017. National is targeting 64,000 vehicles on New Zealand roads by 2021.
